Meditation: A Sacred And Medicinal Alternative to Healing And Relaxation

Two types of meditation are distinguished: analytical meditation “which utilizes familiarization of new ideas and mental attitudes,” and settled meditation, “where one focuses the mind on a chosen subject.” In analytical meditation, one must cultivate compassion through the process of rational and spiritual analysis with the expectation of universal profundity. In settled meditation, one is able to focus on a chosen subject without a detailed explanation of the elements involved. If we are able to focus our mind on virtuosity, then our meditation will be beyond a superficial spiritual quality. As mentioned above, acquiring and listening to experienced teachers can assist us in better understanding and obtaining wisdom through listening; and breaking the vicious circle of life transcending negative energy and emotions. Spirituality advocates state that listening is an essential foundation for our spiritual evolution. Our ultimate quest should then be to study what we have learned through listening to the point of profound conviction leading to understanding derived through contemplation. It is up to us to make the effort to learn how to meditate to achieve contemplation. In accomplishing this, we must study and meditate for clarity and awareness to counter the affliction of the mind developing love and compassion. Awareness is actually birthed upon us as we gain perception into our ultimate divinity. We are constantly learning and seeking awareness and wisdom. Our bodies, personalities, and brains are a bit like wonderful instruments that we must learn to play. Once we become proficient, what a beautiful symphony of heavenly, soulful music we will make as we resonate with heavenly precision. Others will dance to the music of hu-manity. Once we deracinate and transcend our affliction, we realize that there is an initial emptiness that ultimately leads to a profound change of heart realizing experiences as they really are, not the way we influence them to be through ill perception. It is recommended that we meditate on compassion and loving kindness with a specific individual in mind and extend our meditation of compassion and loving kindness toward others. Compassion is a measure of our insight into emptiness.
Who can benefit from Meditation? As stated above,
Meditation is a very relaxing and calming exercise that can be learned and performed by anyone, even children. Meditation is safe to practice for anyone and everyone!! All you need is a quiet place to sit for about 10 to 20 minutes. Meditation can be practiced to instill quiet, relaxing, vibratory chanting with breathing and specific postures and movements. These postures and movements together can lead to healing, mental clarity, and overall calmness. During Meditation, there is an overall connection of the mind and spirit, mind and body and body and spirit. Positive thinking along with the integration of the spirit and ethereal body unification merge the chakras, nadis and tattwas into full assimilation. Meditation has also been credited with reducing and reversing age related illnesses, psychological illnesses, health practitioner visits and hospital stays. As one studies Meditation, one can incrementally progress in performing breathing exercises, posture and movement integration, mantras, and lengthy episodes of mental clarity. Meditation improves and accelerates healing, peace of mind and effective spiritual amalgamation.

Sacred music can be used to enhance your trance like state. However, it is imperative that you turn off all noisy applications including the telephone, televisions, faxes, computers, printers, etc. as loud noises can abruptly snap you out of a meditative session causing you to feel disoriented.

You should avoid alcohol and other strong medications that can affect your ability to focus clearly.

Keep others from interrupting you for at least 10 to 20 minutes.

Try to relax. Once your mind is trained to meditate, relaxing and focusing will become routine. Your mind is sharp and will respond more readily to repetitive patterns. However, once you practice meditation daily, you will reap the benefits of increased mental clarity, relaxed demeanor and serenity.

You can enjoy candles, incense, scented oils, and sacred music to assist you in entering a meditative state.

Do not place undue pressure on yourself. Go with the flow and allow yourself, at least several practice sessions to become acclimated to the meditative procedure. Try to select a time and place with regularity when meditating.

After meditating, allow yourself a few minutes to enjoy your peaceful and relaxed state of mind before recommencing activities.

Try this gentle meditation exercise quietly for about 10 to 20 uninterrupted minutes to experience tranquility, peace and mental clarity:

1. While sitting with legs folded in the lotus position, place your hands together as if you are praying.

Close your eyes.

Take three deep breaths, exhale fully.

Resume your natural breathing rhythm while allowing mental clutter to settle.

2. Increase your awareness of your breathing.

Breathing in, you see yourself being filled with light and love.

Breathing out, you see tension and anxiety melting away.

3. Concentrate on your breathing re-affirming your relationship with the Universal Father/Mother GodHead with every inhalation.

As you exhale, experience the lightness of giving…giving it to God.

4. Use a mantra (a special word that you can repeat and associate with improved love and being).

Repeat this mantra with inhalations and exhalations for it is the essence of spiritual infusions and unconditional love.

5. Return your thoughts to your breathing thanking God for the ability.

Take three deep breaths, exhaling fully.

Restore your full attention to your physical body and your surroundings.

Wiggle your fingers and toes, strengthening your body as you stretch a little.

Open your eyes and see the world differently!!!

6. Reminiscence in your moment.

Become aware of your mental clarity.

Can your consider that you may have been communicating with your Higher Self or your Spiritual Guide?

In the text, “Meditation as Medicine,” by Dharma Khalsa, MD and Cameron Stauth, the authors analyze several hundred studies regarding Transcendental Meditation, (TM) and found that this type of meditation exceeds the relaxation response in reducing psychophysical arousal due to stress. It has already been proven that meditation; especially Transcendental Meditation reduces levels of cortisol and adrenaline improving our coping ability. Meditation lowers our biological age relating to change, reacting to change and connecting us to the universe through mind, body and spiritual techniques. Transcendental Meditation enlivens the marmas with particular attention to the three great marmas (Mahamarma) situated in the head, heart and lower abdomen. These marmas are not surface marmas and can only be reached via the ethereal or quantum mechanical body. These marmas sort of govern the lesser marmas and therefore, should be stimulated most often. Practicing meditation takes us on an expedition into the realms of consciousness and vibration expressing diversity of Light as it moves from source to manifestation.

MEDICAL MEDITATION

Medical meditation works by balancing physical, quantum mechanical and ethereal bodies. One must develop a focused mental capacity, proper posture, and recite mantras, which create vibrational rhythms that stimulate the 84 plus meridian points on the upper palate of the mouth and breath the breath of life. Breathing is a tool that we can utilize to gain realization as we practice meditation and mindfulness techniques. Correcting apathy, loneliness, and depression begins and ends with proper breathing. We should learn to approach medical meditation and yoga as a means to alleviate chronic pain, depression, cardiovascular disease, memory loss, lung disorders, cancer, gastrointestinal problems, arthritis, Fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Meditation with the Ting-Sha

Use the ting-sha to obtain a real sense of spiritual transformation in your daily life. There are a wide spectrum of metaphysical concepts that one can employ to uplift one’s universal spirituality and unconditional love.

Try Vipassana or Insight Meditation
Again breath to elevate spiritual sensations and inner purifications. Notice that any disturbance in your thought pattern reflects a corresponding change in your breathing pattern. Vow to think differently as you observe negative changes in thought patterns you may be experiencing. Be mindful of your thoughts and resolve to improve both your thought patterns and breathing patterns. Once we can break the hold that blaming others for our problems, aggressive actions, harsh words and malevolent feelings have on us, we can begin to purify our body, speech and mind, creating harmony, tranquility and unconditional love both within ourselves and our relationships with others. Remember, strangers are friends that we have not met yet. Your perceived enemies are really your teachers, in disguise. Once you realize this, you are on your spiritual path.

After meditating, give credence to the benefit of others. Practice loving-kindness. Strike the ting-sha right at your fourth chakra (heart). Each time you strike the ting-sha you radiate immeasurable harmony of unconditional love, compassion, joy, and equanimity toward ALL BEINGS.
More to Come…
