When preparing to burn candles and incense, start by preparing the room. This should be a quiet room. You may even place an altar in the room. This can be made from a table, chair or box. Cover with a non flammable blessed fabric and keep away from anything else that could catch fire. Choose a room and time of day when you can think/concentrate uninterrupted. Keep your altar free of dirt and clutter. To prepare for work make sure you indulge in a symbolic cleansing. This consists mainly of taking a bath. It is not necessary to have soap, you can simply throw in a handful of salt or feel free to peruse our spice list. Keep the temperature comfortable. Dress in loose, comfortable fitting garments that can range from simple and plain to elaborate and exotic depending on the work you are about to perform. Feel free to place an altar figure at the back center of the altar table. This figurine can be a crucifix, figurine of a religious figure, ankh, picture, crystal or anything else that you would like to assist you in reaching your Higher Self. You may burn candles of any type now a days as all candles are made from vegetable oil or paraffin. In preparing your candles for burning, be sure to anoint or dress them with oil. Use oils that match the color of the candle or use a colorless oil. If you have difficulty finding an oil, use olive oil. To dress the candle, anoint it with oil, rubbing the oil from the center toward the end of the candle. While dressing the candle, think/concentrate on the subject, problem or question at hand. There are four types of candles that one can use to perform work:
